My father found out that he needed unexpected surgery and, of course, he had not gotten his legal matters in order yet. I was about one month in the process of locating a nursing home and researching Medicaid information for my Aunt, when I saw an add in the local paper for Sharp Bratton, Attorneys at Law. Ironically, the address for the Firm was only blocks away from where I lived. So I checked it out. I called and set up a meeting with Cynthia Sharp, a key figure in the Firm. I thought why not, what do I have to lose, especially since I lived through what my wife went through in working with the State of New Jersey in getting her Mother qualified for Medicaid. Key here is that her Mother had very little money, our Aunt had more than average, but what I witnessed my wife working with the State, I decided I didn't want anything to do with that nonsense. So I went to meet with Cynthia Sharp and was delighted from the minute that I met her. She was professional, courteous, made me feel as if I was the most important client to her and asked a lot of questions , which ironically answered all of my concerns. What I liked is that Cynthia laid out the groundwork and what I would need to provide her for my Aunt to be qualified for Medicaid. Mother succumbed to the infirmities of age all too quickly after father's death. Unfortunately, no legal documents were in place for me to take over; no power of attorney, no living will, etc. After her hospitalization, mother was sent to a nursing facility since she needed total care.
